Dear Parents & Caregivers of Sacred Heart Girls’ College students

I am writing to inform you that the Board of Trustees has received notification from Mrs Ally Gibbons that she has resigned from her position as Principal of Sacred Heart Girls’ College, effective Friday August 6th 2010.

Mrs Gibbons has accepted a contract with a New Zealand company to become an educational consultant in Abu Dhabi in the Middle East.

Mrs Gibbons has been the Principal for the past seven years and under her leadership the college has continued to develop into an outstanding girls’ secondary school, with an impressive academic record and a devotion to the Catholic Special Character that it stands for within our community.

I am sure you will all join me in wishing her well for her new challenge. There will be a formal  farewell organised for the Sacred Heart Girls’ College community on Friday 6th August. You will be advised of the details shortly.

Mrs Teresa Cargo will be Acting Principal until a new Principal is appointed. The Board of Trustees are meeting this week to commence the recruitment process.

Yours sincerely

Daryn Goodall
Chairperson
SHGC Board of Trustees

New Deputy Principal

We welcome back Mrs Catherine Ryan in her new role as Deputy Principal for SHGC from the end of term 3.

Mrs Ryan was previously the HOF of Performing Arts at SHGC. She was appointed to the very prestigious position of National Moderator for Drama at the end of 2007.

We look forward to Mrs Ryan re-joining our college.

Winter Uniform

As winter is well and truly here we encourage students to look after themselves so they remain fit and healthy. One way to do this is to dress up warmly on the way to and from school. A reminder that if scarves and gloves are worn these should be according to the School Uniform Rules. The school scarf, grey and maroon (available at the Uniform Shop) or a plain black scarf can be worn. Plain black gloves may be worn to and from school but must be removed during school time.

NCEA – National Certificate of Educational Achievement

Students will be entered through the school for NCEA. Invoices will be sent out shortly as fees are due in August.

School Uniform

This term the Canterbury NZ/NZ Teamwear shop on the corner of Tristram and Rostrevor Streets will be selling our school uniform. This means we have one provider for the whole uniform and the shop will be open Monday – Saturday.
