AMUN is where youth come together to discuss the things that impact the world today, such as the refugee crisis, patient autonomy, nuclear weapons, free speech and fair elections. SHGC students Fran Bascon and Mia Gaier represented Panama and Nigeria respectively and had to vote on bills through the lens of their country and their country’s ideals.
AMUN was held at Auckland University over two days in March – filled with new friends, new perspectives, and newfound confidence. This is one of many UN Youth events that NZMUN (New Zealand Model UN) organise.
