Our Sacred Heart Equestrian duo Olivia Watson and Maya Matthews competed at ESNZ North Island Secondary School Equestrian Championship recently. Over 50 schools across the North Island participated in a range of equestrian sports, including Competitive Trail Riding, Arena Eventing, Show Jumping, Show Hunter and Dressage.
Olivia and Maya entered Show Jumping consisting of three rounds contesting speed control and dressage techniques over jumps. Olivia placed 6th overall for her combined results, and Maya took away a 1st overall combined result and 2nd for the two height classes she entered.
This is the first time either rider has participated in this event, and they have supported and encouraged each other, putting a lot of time and effort into getting the horses and themselves ready for the competition. Their hard work and results are a testament to their determination. Well done, girls!
