SSEP
Smart Waikato’s Secondary School Employer Partnerships (SSEP) is an award-winning initiative raising student aspirations, resulting in higher achievement, retention, and better transitions.
Our Year 10 students have this great opportunity to be involved with Smart Waikato on the SSEP Programme. The programme answers questions like, “Why am I learning this subject?” and introduces students to key local industries.
Our Mathematics and Science Learning areas are involved with the SSEP programme. Each Year 10 class may spend three lessons on this, visiting the workplaces and doing learning activities with the employers.
The companies involved have been:
- Three Peaks Honey
- Paua Architects
- BCD Group
- HD GEO
- Hamilton City Council
We hope that these partnerships will allow students to see the real-life application of both Mathematics and Science used in workplaces. This will also allow students to see the connection between these two learning areas and expose students to a wide range of career pathways at an early age.
